We had a brilliant conversation at our last webinar with Jo Lancaster-Towers, Director of Executive Searches, from Omni Recruitment RMS. If you missed it, here are some of her thoughts:
1. Candidate expectations have changed
“Candidates are no longer just looking for a job; they’re looking for the right job,” Jo explained. “They want flexibility, wellbeing support, and an organisation that reflects their values.”
This shift means employers can’t rely solely on salary or job titles to attract people. Hybrid working, genuine inclusion, and a culture that prioritises people’s wellbeing are now baseline expectations. To stand out in 2025, organisations need to clearly communicate their values and show how they live them day to day.
2. Technology is reshaping the process
Recruitment technology is evolving fast, with AI now embedded in many processes. “AI can be a great tool,” Jo noted, “but it has to be balanced with the human side of recruitment. Candidates still want to feel seen and valued.”
Employers who get this balance right will benefit from efficiency without losing the personal touch. Those who lean too heavily on automation risk alienating candidates and damaging their reputation.
3. Employer brand matters more than ever
According to Jo, “Your employer brand is speaking for you — whether you’re paying attention to it or not.” Reviews, reputation, and culture are more visible than ever in 2025, and candidates are doing their research before applying.
Investing in your employer brand isn’t about glossy marketing campaigns; it’s about ensuring your culture and employee experience align with the story you tell. Consistency is key to building trust and attracting the right people.
4. Retention is part of recruitment
“Recruitment and retention are two sides of the same coin,” Jo emphasised. “If you can’t keep your people, you’ll never get ahead in the hiring market.”
That means career development, feedback, and wellbeing can’t be afterthoughts. Organisations that create growth opportunities and listen to their people will find it easier to keep talent — and in turn, attract new candidates who want to be part of a thriving culture.
Final Thought
Recruitment in 2025 is not just about filling roles. As Jo Lancaster-Towers highlighted in our webinar, it’s about building sustainable organisations where people want to join and stay. By aligning recruitment with culture, technology, and retention strategies, employers can create workplaces that are resilient, attractive, and future-ready.
